He garnered significant recognition, winning first prize at the Prague Spring International Music Festival in 1959, followed by triumphing in the International Competition in Geneva in 1960. Rieckhoff made notable appearances, including a performance with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at the Bregenz Festival in 1961, receiving critical acclaim. His recordings include Weber's Grand Concertante Duo in 1961, and he was a soloist in the premiere of Wolfgang Fortner's 'Prism' in 1975. He also taught at prominent music institutions.
