Peter David Robinson is a Northern Irish politician who served as First Minister of Northern Ireland and leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) from 2008 to 2016. He became active in Northern Irish politics in 1970 as a founding member of the DUP with Ian Paisley. Robinson was instrumental in the party's structure, serving as its Secretary General and later becoming the youngest member of the British House of Commons in 1979. He was appointed DUP leader in April 2008 and took office as First Minister shortly after.
