Peter Emanuel Sifneos (1920–2008) was an American psychologist known for his work in psychotherapy and psychosomatic problems. After escaping Nazi-occupied France, he studied at Harvard Medical School and served as a psychiatrist in Germany. He later became a psychoanalyst in Boston and contributed significantly to psychological research in Norway. Sifneos is recognized for introducing the concept of alexithymia and published 125 scientific articles related to mental health and psychotherapy. His dedication to short-term therapeutic sessions marked an important development in psychological practice.
