Peter Heinz Sommer was a Swiss teacher, cultural historian, linguist, and writer, born on January 17, 1926. He taught secondary school before serving on the Neutral Monitoring Commission on the Korean Demarcation Line from 1954 to 1955. In 1966, Sommer began studying geography, prehistory, and folklore at the University of Bern. He published works on cultural history and created the 'Dr.-Sommer-Kartennetz' card index system. His legacy is preserved at the Burgerbibliothek Bern, where his manuscripts are held.
