Peter Swinnen is a Belgian composer born on January 31, 1965, in Lier. He graduated from the Brussels Conservatory in 1992 and studied composition under André Laporte. He taught cello from 1990 to 1997 and has been a faculty member in music analysis at the Brussels Conservatory since 1992. Swinnen has been associated with Leuven Catholic University since 1997, involved with the MATRIX documentation center for new music, and directed the Dutch-speaking section of the Brussels Conservatory from 2008 to 2017. His works are known for wordplay in titles and he has received regional awards for his compositions.
