Peter Geoffrey Taylor was a British botanist, born on January 16, 1926, in Luton and passed away on October 20, 2011. He joined the Kew Herbarium in 1948, publishing numerous new species, including Utricularia pentadactyla in 1954. As curator of the Orchid Division, he revitalized the taxonomy of Orchideae. Taylor participated in multiple expeditions, notably in Eastern Africa, North America, Panama, Ecuador, and Australia, discovering many new species, particularly in the Utricularia genus. In 1986, he retired, but continued his research, culminating in significant works on the genus.
