Peter Whalley was a Canadian caricaturist, cartoonist, illustrator, and sculptor born on February 21, 1921, in Brockville, Ontario. After serving in the Canadian Merchant Marine during WWII, he became a prominent humorist in Montreal, gaining recognition in the 1960s and 1970s for his magazine covers. Whalley was known for his unique stripped-down style that humorously critiqued Canada's cultural and political landscape. He won first prize for Political Cartooning in 1965 and was inducted into the Canadian Cartoonist Hall of Fame in 2007, shortly before his death.
