Peter Widell, born on January 13, 1945, is a Danish linguist and professor emeritus. He obtained his master's degree in Danish and language psychology from the University of Copenhagen in 1979. In the 1980s, he received various scholarships and served as the chief lexicographer for Nudansk Ordbog from 1988 to 1995. From 1996 until his retirement in 2014, he was a lecturer in Nordic languages at the Department of Communication and Culture. A festschrift was published in honor of his 60th birthday in 2005.
