Petr Galkin is a Russian boxer born on June 5, 1958, in Kopyelsk. He competed under the banner of the USSR and became the European champion in 1983 in the welterweight category (up to 67 kg). Galkin won four matches at the European Championships in Varna, including the final against Italy's Luciano Bruno. He was also the USSR champion in the same weight class in 1980 and a bronze medalist in 1984. In addition to his boxing career, Galkin holds a Ph.D. in pedagogical sciences and serves as a vice-rector for sports at a university.
