Petr Kvíčala (born April 20, 1960, in Svitavy) is a Czech painter and educator known as a significant figure in Czech abstract painting. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he was a pioneer in exploring and promoting ornamentation as an autonomous expressive element. Kvíčala also played a key role in accepting aesthetic quality as an undeniable component of visual messaging within his generation. Since the late 1990s, he has focused on his own painting interventions in architecture, collaborating with both Czech and international architects.
