M. Petra Articus, born Barbara Articus on May 8, 1948, in Husum, is a German nun and the former abbess of the Cistercian Abbey Seligenthal in Landshut. After her father's early death, she moved with her mother and siblings to Lower Bavaria, where she studied to become a kindergarten teacher. In 1969, she joined the Abbey of Seligenthal and was elected as the 43rd abbess in 1999. Her motto is 'The joy in God is our strength.' She stepped down from her position upon reaching 75 years of age.
