Notably, on September 9, 1988, she became the first woman in the world to throw the javelin over 80 meters. Her world record achievements include throws of 75.26 meters in 1985 and 78.90 meters in 1987, culminating in an Olympic gold medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
