Petra Hoffmann Zschocher is a German biochemist born on December 13, 1946, in Leipzig. She was politically active during the Peaceful Revolution of 1989 and participated as an SPD politician in the negotiation Round Table of Halle from December 1989 to May 1990. Hoffmann was a member of the DDR SPD party board until the unification party conference in September 1990 and contributed to the development of post-reunification Germany through her writings and as a witness for the Foundation for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship.
