Petre Mitu, born on March 22, 1977, in Bucharest, is a retired Romanian rugby union fullback and former national team captain. He excelled as a fullback and scrum half, serving as the team's goalkicker. Mitu was instrumental in helping Romania qualify for the 1999 Rugby World Cup, scoring 80 points during the qualifying rounds. After a significant injury in 2001, he lost his goalkicking role and subsequently retired at the young age of 25, finishing with 34 caps and a record total of 288 points for Romanian rugby as of October 2008.
