Petro Kasinchuk was a prominent Ukrainian public and political figure, born on May 9, 1929, in Melnytsia-Podilska and passed away on May 13, 2012. He was the head of the Podilsky region brotherhood of OUN-UPA known as 'Lysonia' and participated in World War II as a member of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. Kasinchuk was honored with two Gold Crosses for First Class Merit in 1997 and 1999. Initially serving in the youth organization of OUN from 1944 to 1946, he became a member of OUN in 1946 and was recognized as a top fighter of UPA in February 1946.
