Nierman played a significant role in the Second Vatican Council, implementing its outcomes in his diocese. His notable contributions include his leadership during the restoration of the episcopal hierarchy in 1853 and participation in church reforms. He passed away on September 15, 1976, in Hilversum and was buried at the Sint-Elisabeth Monastery.
