Petrus van den Biesen was a Dutch Benedictine monk born on March 5, 1911, in Breda. He established a mixed farming operation at Sint-Willibrordsabdij, which grew into a significant bull breeding business. In 1990, one of the bulls from his farm was named the champion bull of the Netherlands. After selling the bulls in 1995, he transformed the old stables into a silence center. He participated in the 1980 special synod of the bishops of the Netherlands and was asked to resign as abbot in 1998 following a visit to the abbey.
