Petya Kabakchieva is a Bulgarian sociologist and professor at the Department of Sociology at Sofia University 'St. Kliment Ohridski'. She specializes in political sociology, civil sector studies, regional research, migration, and education among other fields. She served as the chair of the board of the Open Society Institute - Sofia from 2006 to 2010 and was the chair of the Bulgarian Sociological Association from 2014 to 2017. Since 2017, she has been the chair of the National Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation.
