Petyr Boczew was a Bulgarian military pilot born on November 10, 1920. He served in the Bulgarian military aviation and was recognized as one of the best Bulgarian fighter pilots during World War II, achieving 13 aerial victories. He was awarded the Iron Cross and the Order of Courage twice. In November 1944, he volunteered for the newly formed Bulgarian SS Grenadier Regiment. Boczew went missing on May 6, 1945, during reconnaissance operations over Soviet troops as the regiment faced engagement near Stockerau.
