Philip Hershkovitz (October 12, 1909 - February 15, 1997) was an American mammalogist born in Pittsburgh. He studied at the universities of Pittsburgh and Michigan and spent time in South America collecting mammals. In 1947, he became a curator at the Chicago Natural History Museum, where he worked until his death. He published extensively on Neotropical mammals, particularly primates and rodents, and described around 70 new species and subspecies of mammals, many of which are named after him.
