Philip Nicholas Steele, born on May 17, 1948, in Dorking, Surrey, is an English author known primarily for his children's non-fiction works. After graduating in Modern Languages from University College, Durham, in 1971, he worked as an editor for various London book publishers throughout the 1970s. In 1980, he relocated to the Isle of Anglesey, North Wales. His writings cover a vast array of subjects, particularly in history and cultures, and many of his illustrated books have been translated into multiple languages.
