Philipp Gessler is a German journalist and non-fiction author born on February 5, 1967, in Munich. He studied history, theology, and journalism, and spent time abroad in Brazil and Russia. Gessler trained at the Henri-Nannen-Schule and completed an internship at the Deutsche Depeschendienst. He worked as an editor for the magazine Focus, the taz, and Deutschlandfunk Kultur, and regularly wrote for Jüdische Allgemeine. Since 2017, he has been an editor for the evangelical monthly magazine Zeitzeichen. He is also a member of PEN Berlin since 2022.
