Dr. Philippus Meesse (Flip) Bosscher was a maritime historian and director of the Marinemuseum. Born on July 17, 1936, in Heiloo, he served as a captain lieutenant at special services and was an officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau. He was also a lecturer at the Royal Netherlands Naval College and a member of the Naval War Council. He obtained his doctorate in 1984 for his work on the Royal Navy during World War II. He passed away on September 13, 2011, in Den Helder.
