Pia de Jong is a Dutch writer and columnist born on January 30, 1961, in Roermond. She studied Dutch and psychology at Utrecht University. Her debut novel, 'Lange dagen', was published in 2008 and won the Public's Prize at the Golden Owl in 2009. She also wrote 'Charlotte', an autobiographical book about her daughter's rare leukemia, translated into English as 'Saving Charlotte' in 2017. De Jong wrote a weekly column for NRC-Handelsblad until 2020 while living in Princeton from 2012 to 2022.
