Piero Stanco, born on September 6, 1958, in Haarlem, Netherlands, is a children's book author and director at Kluitman publishing house in Alkmaar. He joined the company as an assistant director in 1985 and took over its leadership in 1987. Stanco began writing children's books by chance in 1990 when he suggested writing a new story for the Kameleon book series. This led to him penning several Kameleon books under the pseudonym P. de Roos, as well as other children's books under the name John van Aalst.
