He is a member of the Dutch Chess Association (NBC) and achieved significant success in correspondence chess by becoming the Dutch champion in 2001 and 2002. Notably, in 2002, he shared the championship with Leo Hofland, marking the first instance of a tie in NBC history. In 2006, he earned the title of Senior International Correspondence Chess Master (SIMc).
