She graduated as a Bachelor of Laws in 1956, earned her Licentiate in Law in 1965, and completed her Doctorate in Law in 1973. She held various prominent roles including secretary general of the National Coalition Party Women's League and professor at the University of Lapland. Koskinen was also involved in the city council of Helsinki and contributed to research on employee participation systems and equality issues in the workplace.
