Piyadassi Maha Thera was a prominent Theravādin Buddhist monk and Dharma preacher from Sri Lanka. Born on July 8, 1914, in Colombo, he was educated at Nalanda College and Harvard University. Ordained as a monk at twenty, he played a significant role in the Buddhist Publication Society as its Sinhala editor. He collaborated closely with renowned scholars like Nyanaponika Thera and Bhikkhu Bodhi. Piyadassi Maha Thera dedicated his life to the dissemination of Buddhist teachings and passed away on August 18, 1998, at the age of 84.
