Patti Jo 'PJ' Hirabayashi is a pioneer of the North American Taiko movement and founder of TaikoPeace. She serves as President of Kodo Arts Sphere America and co-founded Creatives for Compassionate Communities. As the Artistic Director Emeritus of San Jose Taiko, she contributed significantly to the art form. Her composition 'Ei Ja Nai Ka' celebrates immigrant life through taiko, dance, and voice, performed internationally. Along with her husband, she received the National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 2011, recognizing their contributions to folk and traditional arts.
