He hosts a daily morning show that started as Fiesta Time and evolved to 100% Salsa in 1973, featuring Latin music genres like merengue and son cubano. Vega also had a television show called Club de la Juventud from 1967 to 1970 on Telemundo and continues to host Salsa con Polito on La Mega 97.9 since 1989. His contributions to Latin music were celebrated with a concert by the Fania All Stars in 2004 for his 45 years in broadcasting.
