Mary Ellen 'Polly' Craus August was an American fencer and film industry professional, born on February 17, 1923. She became the US Women's Individual Foil Champion in 1949 and competed in the women's individual foil at the 1952 Summer Olympics. Craus began fencing in 1939 and credited it with aiding her dyslexia. She pursued a career in the movie industry, studying drama and working as a script supervisor and production assistant on notable films, including A Streetcar Named Desire, before her passing on October 7, 2006.
