Polo Montañez, born Fernando Borrego Linares on June 5, 1955, in El Brujito, Cuba, was a Cuban songwriter and singer. He began playing music at a young age, influenced by his father's band. After moving to Las Terrazas, he worked as a lumberjack and drove bulldozers while singing with his siblings in bars. Discovered in 1999, he achieved significant success with his debut CD 'Guajiro Natural' in 2000, featuring the hit song 'Un montón de Estrellas'. He passed away in a traffic accident on November 26, 2002, at the age of 47.
