Pops Mohamed, born Ismail Mohamed-Jan on December 10, 1949, in Benoni, Gauteng, is a South African multi-instrumental jazz musician and producer. His music career began at an early age, influenced by musicians like Abdullah Ibrahim and Kippie Moeketsi. He formed his first band, The Valiants, at just 14 years old. Known as the 'Minister of Music,' Mohamed plays a variety of instruments, including guitar and flute, and explores diverse music styles such as kwela, pop, and soul. He produced the acclaimed album 'Finding One's Self' by the late Moses Taiwa Molelekwa.
