Porter Riley Charleston was an American Negro league pitcher who played from 1927 to 1935. Born on January 8, 1904, in Mexia, Texas, he debuted with the Hilldale Club. Over five seasons, Charleston made significant contributions to Hilldale before playing for the Baltimore Black Sox and Philadelphia Stars. He passed away on June 11, 1986, at the age of 82. His career was notable during a time when baseball was deeply segregated.
