Porter Goss (born November 26, 1938) is an American politician and government official who served as a U.S. Congressman from 1989 to 2004, after which he became the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He was the last person to hold this position before the intelligence reform legislation in 2004 restructured the intelligence community. Representing Florida's 14th congressional district, Goss was chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and played a significant role in the sponsorship of the USA PATRIOT Act. He resigned as CIA Director on May 5, 2006.
