Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj was a prominent Malaysian statesman who served as the head of government from 1955 to 1970. He was the first Chief Minister of the Federation of Malaya from 1955 until 1957 and became the first Prime Minister post-independence in 1957. He continued to serve as Prime Minister after the formation of Malaysia in 1963 until his resignation in 1970. Widely known as 'Tunku', he is regarded as the 'Father of Independence' and 'Father of Malaysia', credited with leading the country to independence and shaping its formation.
