Prince Gaetano of Bourbon-Parma was the youngest son of Robert I, the last Duke of Parma, and Maria Antonia of Portugal. Educated in Austria, France, and Luxembourg, he fought in the Spanish Civil War, sustaining six wounds. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1940, participating in the Normandy landings and the French campaign. Gaetano died in a car accident near Cannes at the age of 52. He was married to Princess Margarete of Thurn und Taxis and had one daughter.
