Prince Joel David Makonnen Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, born on May 5, 1982, is an attorney, businessman, philanthropist, writer, and member of the Ethiopian Imperial House of Solomon, being the great-grandson of Emperor Haile Selassie I. Born in exile in Rome, he grew up in Switzerland and France. In 1999, he returned to Ethiopia and later moved to the U.S. where he worked for Humanities DC and the United Nations. He serves as legal counsel for Otsuka Pharmaceutical and co-founded Alchemy World Projects USA, aimed at empowering impoverished youth.
