Indira Devi of Kapurthala (1912-1979), known as the Radio Princess, was a prominent Indian socialite and princess. The eldest grandchild of Maharaja Jagatjit Singh of Kapurthala, she served as a political correspondent for the BBC during WWII, working closely with George Orwell. She briefly pursued acting in London, studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and appeared in stage productions. Devi also contributed to BBC programming and narrated a documentary about Indian royalty. After her extensive career in broadcasting, she retired to Ibiza, Spain.
