Purificación Tomás Vega was an Asturian politician born on February 27, 1918, in Uviéu and Belmonte de San José. She was the daughter of socialist politician Belarmino Tomás and showed political inclination from a young age due to her family's political background. During the Spanish Civil War, she served as the secretary of the women's executive of Mocedaes Socialistes. After marrying Rafael Fernández in 1937, she exiled to Mexico but returned to Spain in 1976, eventually becoming a city councilor in Uviéu from 1983 until her death on December 10, 1990.
