Pyone Cho is a Burmese activist born Htay Win Aung on April 2, 1966. His name translates to 'sweet smile' in Burmese. He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Dawbon Township in Yangon from 2015 to 2021. He was elected again for Dawbon in the 2020 elections but could not serve due to the military coup in 2021. An internationally recognized human rights advocate, he was also a key student leader during the 8888 Uprising in Myanmar.
