He was one of the founders and leaders of the Belarusian revival movement in Brest and the Brest region during the late 1980s and 1990s. A member of the Belarusian Popular Front (BPF) since 1989, Kasko contributed significantly to the cultural and social activities in Belarus that aimed at the promotion of Belarusian language and identity.
