Yuri Danilovich Petrov was a Soviet writer, poet, and journalist, born on May 27, 1920, in Nizhny Novgorod, RSFSR, and died on October 4, 2007, in Yoshkar-Ola, Mari El, Russia. He was a member of the USSR Union of Journalists and recognized as a Honored Worker of Culture of the Mari ASSR in 1980. Petrov received the State Prize of the Mari ASSR in 1977 and served as a soldier in the Great Patriotic War. He was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
