He earned a PhD in philology in 1970 and was a professor at Drohobych Pedagogical University starting in 1991. He was the founder of the Drohobych branch of the 'Prosvita' society, a full member of the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society since 2017, and an honorary citizen of the city of Drohobych.
