Dmytro Serhiovych Hurskyi was a Ukrainian geologist born on November 28, 1948, in the village of Mariyankivka, Kyiv Oblast. He became an honorary member of the Academy of Mining Sciences of Ukraine in 2008 and earned a PhD in geological sciences the same year. He was recognized as a Distinguished Worker of Industry of Ukraine in 2003 and an honored explorer of subsoil resources in 1995. He passed away on September 4, 2018, in Kyiv.
