Valery Andreevich Shaternikov (1930–1986) was a Soviet biochemist and physiologist. He obtained a Doctor of Biological Sciences in 1970 and became a professor in 1973. In 1980, he became a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He served as the director of the Institute of Nutrition of the USSR Academy of Sciences from 1978 to 1983, contributing significantly to the field of biology and nutrition during his career.
