Vitaly Kuzmich Smirnov (February 28, 1928 – May 15, 2017) was a Soviet and Russian engineer-metallurgist, scientist, and educator specializing in metal forming. He held a Doctor of Technical Sciences degree (1974) and was a professor and Honored Professor at UGTU (2003). Recognized as an Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the RSFSR (1989), he authored 500 academic works, 11 monographs, and held 20 patents, including 13 international inventions. He supervised the training of 6 doctors and 28 candidates of sciences.
