Lukpan Sailauevich Akhmedyarov (born December 23, 1975) is a Kazakhstani political journalist, civil activist, and human rights defender. He serves as the editor-in-chief of the independent newspaper 'Ural Week.' Akhmedyarov was awarded the 2012 Peter Mackler Award for Courageous Journalism by the international human rights organization Reporters Without Borders. His work focuses on promoting freedom of the press and protecting civil rights in Kazakhstan.
