Valery Yurievich Sharov (1953—2014) was a Soviet research cosmonaut, writer, and journalist. He won a silver medal at the 1982 USSR Championship in athletics and was a Master of Sport of the USSR. He served as a correspondent for the 'Literary Gazette' from 1987 to 1992, contributing significantly to the literary and scientific community during his career.
