Lin Yongnian (born February 13, 1932) is a prominent expert in information processing technology and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He hails from Ningbo, Zhejiang, and graduated from Moscow State University in 1960. Lin has served as a researcher at the General Staff Department of the People's Liberation Army and as a professor at the PLA Information Engineering University. He has received numerous accolades including the National Science and Technology Progress Award First Class and was elected as an academician in 1995.
